The Cylinder Lifter for Maintenance and Engineering Teams

Maintenance engineers don't weld in one place. When the job is a broken guard at the far end of the plant or a repair in another building, the gas cylinder has to travel too, and often there's only one person to move it.

Why cylinders are a maintenance headache

Production welders change cylinders in the same bay every time. Maintenance teams move them across yards, through doorways and between buildings, then load them onto a portable welding set at the job. A full large argon or mixed-gas cylinder can weigh 80 kg or more. Lifting it by hand is risky at the best of times, and harder still when you're working alone with nobody nearby to help. That makes cylinder moves a manual handling risk worth tackling in your risk assessment, and the Cylinder Lifter takes the hand lift out of them.

Across the site

250 mm puncture-proof wheels roll over yards, rough concrete and uneven floors, and the 50 mm ratchet strap holds the cylinder firmly on the way.

One person can do it

The pivot frame carries the load and only about 14 kg reaches the handle, so an engineer working alone can load a cylinder without help.

Ready for the next call-out

No batteries to charge and no hydraulics to service. It works the same on a cold morning in the yard as it does in the workshop.

What it handles

  • Cylinder size. Up to 100 kg and around 254 mm in diameter.
  • Lift height. Onto portable welding sets, cylinder trolleys and other platforms up to 250 mm high.
  • Size and weight. 1400 × 500 × 470 mm and 26 kg, so it's easy to store in the maintenance workshop between jobs.
  • Build. A powder-coated steel frame, an anti-slip foot grip and a nubbed handle grip for a steady hold.
  • Peace of mind. Made in the UK, CE and UKCA marked, with a 12-month warranty for professional and commercial use.

Not for every lift

It isn't a hoist or crane, so it won't lift a cylinder into a van, onto a mezzanine or onto anything higher than 250 mm, and it carries one cylinder at a time. Our comparison page sets out other options for those jobs.
